Teec Nos Pos
Navajo Artisans include fine art weavers of rugs. The Teec Nos Pos
Trading Post has a long history of supporting these artisans by being a source for purchase of their
fine art. Each rug is a unique creation by the weaver. The patterns and images vary widely with the geographical
origins of the weaver and their clan (family) heritage.
Navajo Rug weavers have very special spiritual and intellectual qualities. These are often
displayed in the patterns and images. Although some rugs have a "life line" woven into one of the corners of the
rug. Many believe the "life line" assures the weavers sprit is not locked into the rug. The traditional weavers do
not use notes or drawings during the weaving. The very complex patterns and images are "vivid" in their

Loom In Navajo Weavers
When I was 11 years of age,
I learned to weave.
My late Grandma was a
weaver. She shared all the details and structure of loom to poles. She worked with me every step
by step; through all the weaving technique of carding, dyes, and spinning the wool into yarn,

continue to practice it, is another matter.
